Personally, I would never vote for him, but Trump likes him.
That’s debatable. Trump certainly called Ryan out later. Trump is a pragmatist. He works with the people available and gets whatever leverage he can by saving the beatdown until if is needed or until there is nothing to be gained towards America’s goals by making nice.
I’ve heard POTUS mock Paul Ryan on many occasions in many speeches, and never heard him pay respects to him, myself. Ryan’s name frequents many of POTUS Trump’s remarks as a poster boy for the Establishment. A KOCH pocket politician, never remotely interested in the border, but married into a wealthy democrat family.
