What happens if Gaetz wins -- and McCarthy loses?
ABC News ^

Posted on 10/03/2023 1:25:58 PM PDT by FarCenter

The House would be in uncharted waters if McCarthy is removed as speaker: A motion to vacate has never been used successfully.

But the chamber wouldn't be as paralyzed and chaotic as it was in January amid McCarthy's five-day, 15-ballot vote to win the gavel.

As part of a rule change after 9/11 to support the continuity of government, the speaker is required to deliver to the House clerk an ordered list of members who can act as speaker pro tempore in the event of a vacancy.

The person at the top of McCarthy's list will serve as interim speaker until a new one is elected.

If the motion to vacate is successful, the chamber could go right to another speaker vote -- and McCarthy's allies could put him forward again to reclaim his post.

But unlike in January, it's possible that the House could take up other business in the meantime: The chamber has a rules package, and the speaker pro tempore would have the authority to act as speaker until a new one is elected.

I really don’t care either, given where this economy is going with soaring interest rates combined with exploding federal deficits, only a handful of people in Washington know what’s happening and even less care enough to try to do anything about it.

Rick Santelli did a video earlier today about where interest rates are going over the long term, basically the 30-year long bond.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeRyGKekR_Q

They’re very few people alive in Washington, Wall Street or elsewhere that were around in 1981 when the long bond closed at over 16% highest rate on record, they do think that’s possible again and have no idea what to do if it does.

Santelli is predicting in 5-7 years that we will get 13-14% interest rates.

There simply are not enough politicians in either party that can or will do anything to head off the economic tsunami we are facing.

I’ll just sit back and enjoy the games being played and protect myself and family.

Back then we got Paul Voelker and Ronald Reagan to come in and fix things, I’m not sure that type of person exists today.

I remember going to the gas station with my dad during the rationing that took place under Carter.

Santelli is predicting in 5-7 years that we will get 13-14% interest rates....mortgage rates were even higher than that, back in the day. Although home prices weren’t as ridiculous as they are now - which I think is about nothing more than property tax revenue - and I think there was more job stability. Back in the day, I don’t think the US had hedge funds and equity groups coming and destroying everything it their path.

There simply are not enough politicians in either party that can or will do anything to head off the economic tsunami we are facing....very true - they think they’re insulated from all of it for some reason, it’s very obvious. They spend all their time in Panem/DC only going home to show their faces at a few events and then back to Panem/DC

I’ll just sit back and enjoy the games being played and protect myself and family....about the only thing you can do. We’re not even remotely close to that horror that awaits with all these 3rd world savages that have come in. Many people travel the world. They go to tourist destinations that are relatively safe. They never venture outside of them to see what things are really like. Well, the people that didn’t live in the tourist destinations are the ones crossing the border.

Back then we got Paul Voelker and Ronald Reagan to come in and fix things, I’m not sure that type of person exists today....IMHO, that person does exist. And that person had this country humming along and brought relative peace. But, right now, he’s on trial for fraud in NYC, yet somehow, there are no victims. Right now he’s on trial in NYC for over valuing his properties, meaning that he would have paid higher property taxes. Right now he’s on trial before a judge who made up a number and wouldn’t allow an expert witness...a real estate appraiser...to testify.

Trump wants the RINO/Dems/DSers to show their anti- WeThePeople (WTP), rainbow colors, so the former will be all-the-more exposed.

This is of the same type as him welcoming the slings and arrows of 4-or-more indictments on 91+ felony counts after two rounds of impeachment and myriads of MSM darts. As WTP see the DSers working against WTP in RICO fashion, WTP are increasingly disposed to crawl over glass to get to the polls to vote out the DSers and launch PDJT into the oval office one more time!

The proof is in his poll numbers that continue to climb toward 80.53%

Just as PDJT could extricate himself quickly from court cases--but doesn't--for the benefit of WTP, PDJT's suffering slings and arrows draws WTP to him, in the same fashion as Gaetz garners grudging getting kudos for having the chutzpah to stand up for promises made to the MAGA coalition.

Gaetz has my attention. if the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, at least Gaetz is doing something different.

So many saying this.Trump is busy with a lawsuit and when finished will be running for president. He does not have time to be speaker.

Trump didn’t want to deal with Congress when he was President. That was one of his main failings.
Or not.
Trump accomplished more for America in one 4yr term than any President in your lifetime

“Trump wants nothing to do dealing with the House on a daily basis.” I agree, do we know anyone, anyone who is good at herding cats?

Hakeem Jeffries takes the gavel.

This isn't even slightly complicated.

...And where does he get the votes for that?
