Kevin McCarthy failed in an initial vote to block an effort to oust him by Rep. Matt Gaetz, putting his position as House speaker in peril.
Gaetz’s "motion to vacate" the speakership will now head for an official vote.
To prevail, McCarthy or his foes will need a majority of those voting, not just Republicans. Typically Republicans can lose no more than four GOP votes on party-line votes when all members are present. Democratic leaders recommended Tuesday that colleagues vote against saving McCarthy.

Just the truth. I agree. Where this goes though we don’t know. As others have said, we didn’t want him in the first place. We agreed to give him a chance and he didn’t live up to our hopes nor those of the party majority. Too bad pubbies can’t unite though.

I don’t agree. Those 11 Republicans are not in bed with the donor class! You know what I’m talking about the bought and paid boys. 11 men took a stand today for sanity in fiscal spending.

In listening to McCarthy’s GOP Supporters I now realize that McCarthy is the best Speaker of the House ever!!!!!
