This is not breaking news. It is old news. That was then, this is now. RDS as VP makes a lot of sense in certain ways. It is also a lot better than some other possibilities (e.g. Tim Scott). If Trump picks DeSantis the last thing we should do is freak out.

It is 100% clear Trump has no interest in winning in the fall. He’s bankrupted and divided the party while paying for legal fees. Backed the loser RNC chair who has run the party dry and has done nothing to attract lost voters who have abandoned him since 2018.
I’ll vote for him but see no path unless Biden stays the nominee and does a dramatic face plant on live TV this fall after it is too late for a switcheroo.

Because they both live in the same state, it can't happen (Trump isn't going to move and DeSantis isn't going anywhere while being the governor). I think its in the 12th Amendment.
