Former President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign early Sunday left a birdcage and bird food in front of GOP presidential hopeful Nikki Haley’s hotel room door in Des Moines in reference to his new nickname for her, “Birdbrain,” per a photo shared with The Messenger.
The Trump campaign shared the photo early Sunday with The Messenger and later posted the picture on Twitter.
Trump debuted the moniker prior to Wednesday’s debate on his social media platform Truth Social. It's unclear why he came up with that nickname in particular.
"MAGA, or I, will never go for Birdbrain Nikki Haley," Trump wrote in the post. "Birdbrain doesn’t have the TALENT or TEMPERAMENT to do the job. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
Haley had a strong performance at the debate, and Trump posted about the former U.N. ambassador afterward as well.

Why deny something that is clearly FAKE NEWS.
BTW, where is the Secret Service Report?
Generally, SS does not offer protection to candidates until one year before scheduled federal election.
First, if Trump is so far ahead that the primaries are over, what is his excuse for worrying about Nikki Haley, or the other candidates?
Second, is he that upset that she, who was very loyal to him, has decided to run for president that he thinks it’s now OK to denigrate her and attempt to intimidate her? Where does he get off demanding life long fealty from people?
Consider this: Trump takes offense to female candidate Haley, he insults and denigrates her by name, his campaign tracks down her hotel room, and then leaves intimidating “gifts” at her door.
Wow, that is going to win women voters. And since women make up 50% of the electorate, does Trump think this will win enough male voters to push him over the top?
So this was funny for about the first five seconds. Not.
Lastly, how many people are under TRO’s for doing essentially what Trump just did?

I’m not the first one to ever say I clicked on a thread for the comments. This happens often on Free Republic, when a funny or absurd story appears here.
And I’m sure you have observed, separate from this story, there is snark and sarcasm all the time on Free Republic.
I’m sure you would agree, this is not a story of serious political policy differences between Trump and Nikki Haley.
So since it is not any sort of serious policy discussion naturally any comments on the story are going to be less than serious themselves.

Good grief. What more info do we need to believe someone at Team Trump sent the basket? They admitted they did - end of story, except it diminished Team Trump. Trump would earn points with me if he apologized for the stunt but all I hear is “crickets”. I doubt Trump is capable of an apology other than the “I’m sorry you’re so stupid” variety.

When it comes to politics, Trump thinks tactically. You win skirmishes that way. But wars are won by thinking far ahead, strategically. This “birdbrain” stunt was not a good strategic move.
