With little time left to prevent a government shutdown, the House is in a familiar position: effectively paralyzed as conservatives feud with Speaker Kevin McCarthy over matters large and small.
McCarthy has pushed the Republican conference to embrace a short-term funding plan that would include a sweeping Republican proposal for the southern border. But a small group of hard-line conservatives has defied the speaker in a quest to get rid of stopgap funding plans, known as continuing resolutions, even if opposing them means forcing a government shutdown.
It’s left McCarthy at an impasse. The California congressman will likely be left with the political damage of a shutdown unless he turns to Democrats for help in passing a bipartisan bill. But working with Democrats would give hard-right Republicans reason to remove him as speaker.
Here’s what to know about the House Republicans’ conflict and where it may be headed:

Hooray for Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert, and Marjorie Green. But, if I could, I would tell them to settle for a “significant gain” THIS TIME and then come back again the first time the marxist bastard RINO’s and Democrats WANT money.
This time, I would settle for Cancelling various projects starting with the new FBI Headquarters Building plus a 5 year NEW HIRE freeze on the federal government which would include a provision for not replacing an employee who quit or died. They could easily cancel 1 Trillion dollars worth of projects.
Get SOMETHING significant and tangible and then come back next time with another DEMAND.
.
It’s only difficult because half of them are playing for the other team.
Dems ram everything through.
McCarthy promised no more CRs and no more Omnibus spending bills. If he fails file the Motion to Vacate.
No more excuses.

“Far extreme Right”
Why even bother to hide the partisanship
The House is debating the rule for a CR at this moment. There will be a vote on the CR this afternoon/evening.
Hopefully they shut the government down.
Let’s call them fiscal conservatives. Sort of changes the narrative.
I’m still trying to find a downside in crippling the federal governent...
My senator dresses like a thug and plays with blocks daily...
Why is a government shutdown bad but a Big 3 auto manufacturer union and Hollyweird workers and writers shutdown good? Must be a commie RAT thing.
Congratulations, Speaker Jeffries.
“Congratulations, Speaker Jeffries.”
So let’s just keep rewarding McCarthy for failure after failure after failure….
Good plan.

Go ahead, get rid of him. I don't care at all what happens to him.
Just realize that yesterday, 19 Republicans voted AGAINST a Bill to limit homosexual grooming of children by defundng drag events put on for children.
Of those 19 Republicans, how many would prefer, say, Jim Jordan and how many would vote for Jeffries?
The spending needs to be cut, which means government needs to be cut, which means it will NEVER EVER happen.
The U.S. government has spent $5.50 trillion in fiscal year 2023 to ensure the well-being of the people of the United States.
BWAHAHAHahahahahahahahaha!
There isn’t any political damage from a shutdown. It’s only in the limited minds of liberal morons.
“Of those 19 Republicans, how many would prefer, say, Jim Jordan and how many would vote for Jeffries?”
For Jeffries? 0, if they want to keep their seats.
