KYIV, Ukraine — Ukraine once again finds itself center stage in the drama of American politics.
The looming federal shutdown is being felt in Kyiv, some 5,000 miles east of Washington, as a potential disruption of crucial American aid and argument over whether to support Ukraine at all has heightened concerns ahead of next year’s U.S. presidential election.
For Ukraine, a U.S. government shutdown “would be an unpleasant development, to say the least,” said Oleksandr Kraiev, a United States foreign policy expert at the Ukrainian think tank Prism who provides consultancy for the government in Kyiv. While the impasse might not present an immediate catastrophe for the Ukrainian military in its war with Russia, this “budgetary skirmish” could be a small dose of what’s to come.
“We’re having some kind of renaissance right now,” Kraiev said. “It’s not just the hard-line Republicans, but also the progressive Democrats who are getting more and more against foreign involvement.”

It may actually happen a few months before that. Even IF Biden gets his $24bil this cycle...who believes there will be more after the first of the year?
Raise your hands!
The DNC has to clear the decks for the "election".
It matters that there is a clear majority of the US electorate opposed to further funding.
The House will reflect that eventually.
Darn right. Our money needs to be spent here to fight the invasion from the Mexican border. Shut down spending for foreign countries first before thinking of stopping funding for citizens including retired vets. And shut down spending on foreign illegal aliens and kick them out!
I’m just glad to see some pushback on the wall to wall Uke propaganda.
Those spending addicts keep on singing:
“I get high, I get high, I get high...Ukraine”
Good reason to shut it down.
Who cares if there are no sleigh rides at Yellowstone National Park this year...shut it down.
When our Congress pays this much attention to our border invasion that they have to Ukraine then I ‘might’ think they care about our nations and it’s peoples security and safety.
Russia’s election is March 17th upcoming. If Putin wins 50% of the vote or more, there is no second round. Otherwise, 3 weeks later 7 April.
Putin has said he would only announce his candidacy after the elections are formally called. Which should be soon.
His only opponents are candidates far more hardline than he is. Russia has universal draft, as the US did in Vietnam era and again soon given recruitment shortages. A drafted young Russian is given 1 year of military training and then moved to the ready Reserve and returned to private life.
Over the years this has caused accumulation of 20-25 million in the Reserves. Last September Putin mobilized only 300,000 of these. His opponents wanted a far higher % of the 25 million.
Putin is a moderate. He is highly likely to win.

ROFL
Like Margaret Thatcher once said, “ until you run out of other peoples money “, well, the Ukie welfare checks WILL end, everything “ ends”…..it is a well known fact they are totally, 100 percent on welfare from the West, from all their government employees to meter maids to Congress, to dog catcher to farmer…..disgusting.
TOTALLY Unsustainable, with no path to victory….it gets better, there is simply not enough manpower left to even think of rebuilding, critical skills, from welders to plumbers to electricians have been chewed up by Vlads meat grinder……..who are they going to get to get? …..half a million Chinese workers?
