US is very dependent on ships for transporting everything from oil to medical supplies.

If WW3 broke out, I think we’d find ourselves in a world of hurt if no ship is safe at sea.

There is no question that would be true.

If the USA blew up the Nord Stream Pipelines, what impact would it have if someone bombed the Panama Canal and put it out of commission for a couple of years, it would cripple the international trade business.

In a WW III scenario how disruptive would it be if someone took out the Suez and Panama Canals, then mined or shut down the Malacca Straits. Worldwide shipping would grind to a halt, ships could still navigate the world, but it would add weeks if not months and add significant cost to shipping.

A large number of our ships would be safe because they are not fit to put out to sea in the first place, due to delay of maintenance, cannibalization for spare parts, faulty parts, lack of qualified crew. Yeah, the US Navy right now can’t get the Marines to a hotspot in a timely fashion, but they are going to stop the Chinese in The South China Sea?
