I recall the forced busing protests in the Boston area in the late ‘70s. They got pretty intense. The judge didn’t care.

The judge didn’t care. Why should he? Americans are addicted to "Goodies from the Government". "Free" education is the gateway drug.

Two reasons:
1. The judge’s kids were never going to be part if it.
2. No concerned parents paid the judge a visit in the dead of night.
