Do you know why Poles got the reputation for being stupid?
After successfully defeating multiple armies over the centuries, Poland was eventually crushed when 3 different countries invaded at the same time, all angling to plunder her resources.
They stripped her bare and left her destitute. She would eventually rebuild.
When the Germans rolled in to Poland, everyone, including farmers, took up whatever weapons they had. They were mocked as stupid for charging at tanks with farm tools.
In fact, they were incredibly brave.
That, and the Polish cavalry charged the tanks on horseback.
You go to war with the army you want, when war comes to you you fight with the army you have.
