That was Patton’s idea for the Bulge.
He wanted to let the Germans through and have his army pinch the Germans off, surround them and destroy them. Ike and Monty almost crapped a brick at the idea.
Patton was the pure warrior. Monty and Ike were politicians who worked partnerships, sharing of responsibilities, basically NATO.
Pure Warriors are few and far between. THEY are Born Leaders, not made.
