The Iowa caucuses are still more than four months away, but former President Donald Trump already appears to have one eye toward a general election rematch with President Biden.
Trump’s words and actions are that of a candidate less concerned with his primary rivals, who trail him by a wide margin in nearly every state and national poll, and more focused on attacking Biden and winning over voters in key swing states.
Ford O’Connell, a Florida-based Republican strategist, said Trump has “the freedom to do what he thinks is best” with his campaign thanks to his significant lead in primary polls, and national polls that show him in a close hypothetical rematch with Biden.
“Trump is running the race as if this is going to be himself and Joe Biden in November of 2024,” O’Connell said. “And anyone who’s being honest will tell you that’s the right way to go, barring a seismic moment or shift or anything else.”

Not so fast. Still nearly four months to the first votes. I guess, if Trump can keep his mouth shut, maybe it is over but as we’ve seen this past week, every time he actually speaks, he digs a hole for himself. And he whines about it..
This should make the McRomBushes happy. They wanted him to focus on Biden.
Trump is getting it all out of the way early. He’s not stopping anyone from running, but he buries opponents who attack him and are above 1% so that he can run away with the caucuses and primaries early, and not waste his money on them. In the meantime, Biden has to deal with RFK Jr. and the large contingent of Dems who don’t like him.
The stars are aligning as well as they can align for Trump as of now.
Apparently the hole wasn’t too deep. He hasn’t lost a thing.
But Meatball is Number 5 in NH.
And in the end when it is all said and done Trump will not be the nominee as he will be blocked long enough in the State courts from being on several key State ballots. A lesser and more weak GOP candidate will be and lose.
The chance to keep Trump off the ballot will go to SCOTUS and I doubt those states will win those cases.
Face it, DeSantis is done. He could have had the VP slot handed to him on a platter made of solid gold. He’d have cruised to the nomination in 2028.
But in what will go down as one of the most bone headed moves in modern American political history he decided, or was told to, go after Trump. I can’t decide who was more stupid, the advisors who told Ron to do it or Ron himself for taking their advice.
Maybe he’d make a great President. But sadly we will never know because he shot himself right in the crotch. The Trump wing of the party will likely never support him.
It’s one of the biggest unforced errors ever. And it makes me sad because I actually like the guy and think he’s doing a terrific job as Governor.

There are qualifications for being POTUS in our Constitution and no where in those qualifications does it mention that the States can pick and choose. Y’all need a new line of attack.
Right and I agree but will delay him just long enough to make the point moot.
I believe it will be fast tracked. All they need is one decision.
Gotta remember it is not just the Dems who do not want Trump to run it is the bulk of the GOP leadership as well..I see road block after road block being tossed in the mix..
Do you think talking to a general election audience he should say he’s going to put a federal election ban on abortion after 6 months? Desanctimonius is going to run on that? This will not work. We may all want it to be so but you will not even be in the running ins MI, PA, NV, WI. This may put OH back in play. I don’t think that’s where the country is. I know you’re just trolling but I don’t think you can run that in a general election.
We will see. But I believe he will be on the ballots.
That said, the RATs haven’t all at once become decent, honest, and fair.
That is our biggest problem and I can’t see much has been done about it.
Yea, you got a guy run 30 or 40 points ahead in the primary and hitting 50% in the general and the only think Repukes are trying to do is drive down his numbers. IMAGINE they tried coordinating a message with him. You may even people to have a full sweep into power
He can’t “skip” the primaries but they sure are going to try to get him delisted from the ballots so we can’t vote for him. (I’ll write in anyway)

I was listening to someone being interviewed on Glen Beck’s last week’s show about an incident when Trump met with GOP Senators and once he left the room they all busted out laughing, bad mouthing him and carrying on him being an idiot and such...Point being the GOP will work with the Dems to block him at every turn.
