This requires a history lesson. Progressives hate liberalism, and they always have. But, in the 1930s after progressives got so overwhelmingly trounced in the election of 1920 nobody would ever trust the name "progressive" for a very long time.
So progressives went sneaky. They strong-arm took over the word "liberal" as a place to camouflage what they really believe, and they have been squatting on that word ever since. They don't deserve that word. They certainly did not earn that word.
Herbert Hoover wrote about it a little bit after the '32 election. FDR himself was the originator of this idea. "We progressives should from now on call ourselves "liberal"", was essentially FDR's message early on in the campaign '32 campaign. Hoover thought it quite outrageous that statists would ever call themselves "liberal" since liberalism is an affront to progressivism.
But even in 1932, the progressives controlled the media. So who was going to stop them?
Even today, there is not a big movement among conservatives to wrest back the good name of liberalism against the state-worshipping progressive movement.
They stole it, and the word will remain stolen for years to come.
Overall this is a very good article from Mr. Prager, but it does require a history lesson about the terrible theft of such a noble word.
I THINK what he i trying to say is that (the less insane) liberals think they are ‘the good guys’ and republicans are evil.
They know stealing is wrong.
But somehow they have no problem with Biden stealing an election. They refuse to even look at actual evidence.
