“Uncommon out of network event”?
That was three trucks across two days of testing, so about 18% probability. In a carefully orchestrated event, one trucker inadvertently ran it down to a puckering 1.6% charge on a regular route. Not exactly inspiring.

80% of 900kw in 45 minutes?

It has a 1000v architecture so some math...

900kwh @ 1000v = 900amps feeder.

That’s a big cord. 9 x 100amp connections? 3 x 300?

I’d really like to know how they do that.

Disclaimer - I just had a total knee replacement and am bit foggy right due to the pain meds...

The article is preceded by dark picture of dozens of dark cloud emitting towers and chimneys.
These pictures are artificially darkened to portrait doom and gloom of fossil fuels.
In reality, they emit mostly just water and the “smoke” is water vapor, white by definition.
And, by the way, they produce electricity needed to power these trucks!

“Having more superchargers does not fix the 3 hour charge time. “

It does by reducing the time to charge.

“I’ve driven those mountain passes numerous times. I’ve had to pull over on occasion and let the brakes cool off.”

EV’s have the opposite problem. To prevent them from rusting the are programmed to brake (when braking with motors) even when not needed.

“A very true concern is REAL stopping power.
All Tesla’s run into brake over heating very quickly when pushed to the limit.”

That happens to most every car. EV’s are designed to primarily use regenerative braking.

“Changing to carbon ceramic fixes the problem but you then loose regenerative brakes.”

Why would you loose (sic) regenerative braking?

“The last city I saw real smog was Beijing, China.”

I was in Bangkok earlier this year. Rarely say the sun.

“- also over snowy mountain passes and at temperatures that are far below optimal battery operating conditions.”

Batteries generate their own heat and are regulated to operate at optimum temperature.

“IF they had a limit of about 80,000 pounds and were using Pepsi products for a test load and NOT pillows, I would think they would wish to do serious & realistic testing.”

They had realistic loads. It was serious & realistic.

“Never been there, how was it?”

Except for the smog it was great. If you like big cities. I won’t be going back.

How much does a diesel rig of the same size weigh, compared to the electric rig, empty? 82K and how much was freight? What is the cost of the battery replacement? Diesel trucks go a million miles with only maintenance.

If it was nonsense you would show facts instead of attacking the messenger.

Can it do 0-60 in 2.9 seconds while pulling 80,000 lbs?

It'll be interesting to see how these things pan out. I didn't drive professionally full time but did quite a bit due to my job. We had a lot of equipment that had to move by truck.
Loved hitting the highway in one. 18 gears, 18 wheels and a CB for some of the funniest chatter goin'. Don't cut in front of me, stay out of my blind spot and you'll live 4 wheeler. ;O)

Yeah, I have known a lot of people with engineering degrees who were anything but an engineer.

Texasgator claiming to be an engineer is an insult to real engineers. He’s just an EV fanboy living in his own little fantasy world.

Another “I can’t dispute TG facts so I will falsely slander the messenger” post!
