As I remember, they killed-off the baby girls and valued the baby boys, probably in prep for a huge ground army, which they have. Is that right? Must be a huge homo problem, with the serious lack of women, or do they import women?

If indeed they are in such a dire situation, then the traditional solutions would be to look to war and, um, greener pastures.
The traditional Chinese approach, however, would be to do so in just the way they seem to be acting now. That would be to co-opt neighboring governments and cultures. That would in turn enable them to take over surrounding lands and conquer surrounding peoples via war that isn’t mere traditional war.
