Because the republicans want this. This why the law ‘8 U.S. Code ยง 1158 - Asylum’ is still the current law and these people have been told to ask for asylum.
Notice how Republican Senator Susan Collins has introduced a change to the Asylum law, she wants the time period for work permits reduced from 180 days to 30.
This is also why HHS Mayoraks cannot be impeached, he is just following the law. The Republicans are just blowing smoke over this issue because they don’t want us to know the truth.
