“President Johnson’s daughter Luci Baines Johnson”
In 1964 I lived in Virginia directly across the river from D.C., about 7 road miles from the White House.
I was walking along Carlin Springs Rd on my way to school when Luci Baines Johnson cruised past me in her Corvette Stingray. I was maybe 10 ft from the car and she was unmistakable. Carlin Springs is a two lane road and she was only rolling along at about 30 mph, flanked front and back by sedans carrying four men each.
That must have been a sight to behold. Luci in her casual car shepherded by the formidable Secret Service.
She probably insisted on doing her own driving.
As stubborn as her father.
At least she chose to obey the speed limit.
