G77 summit in Cuba calls for new global order

The Group of 77 developing countries (G77) called for a new global order at a two-day summit in Havana, Cuba, which wrapped up on Saturday.

The G77 was established in 1964 to advance the collective economic interests of the Global South. The bloc has since expanded to include 134 members.

"After all this time that the North has organized the world according to its interests, it is now up to the South to change the rules of the game," said Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, who currently chairs the organization.

Diaz-Canel said that developing countries were the main victims of a "multidimensional crisis" in the world today, which ranged from "abusive unequal trade" to global warming.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also said that these countries are "trapped in a tangle of global crises," pointing to climate change and foreign debt.

"The world is failing developing nations," he said in Havana.

These countries need development funding. Apparently, once they get that funding they are preparing to waste a large portion of it on the climate change scam. Insanity.

When will developing countries start actually developing?

And, de facto, the vast majority of that money goes into the pockets of those in control of those economies.

Diaz-Canal …….. traditionaly, a bar sinister in a name indicates that the person is a bastard. In this particular case I suspect that s true in both senses.

They won’t until they get past tribalism, dictatorships and communism.
Its political evolution that’s required a movement into democracy.
It would help if they learned some Whiteman history to aid their evolution.
Try telling that to African or South American nations... Lol

How many have been receiving large sums of money from the US?? We have financially and militarily supported most of them for many years, yet they have mostly turned away from us and now cozying up to China, some Russia.

To cozy up to China and Russia you don’t have to cozy up your country to Western trans tyranny. The West and its woke, green, pervo globalism is what has forced Global South into the arms of China, Russia and BRIChinaS. Remember when the US used to be “a city on hill” for the third world to emulate? Who wants to follow the US lead now and end up a perverted Gomorrah in putrid swamp?

Definitely a commie/socialist/fascist/Marxist group:
“...established in 1964...”

Yes, lowlife commie/socialist/fascist/anarchist filth:
“...developing countries were the main victims of a “multidimensional crisis” in the world today, which ranged from “abusive unequal trade” to global warming.”

How is Cuba a product of Soros? Cuba is a product of a failed communist government. Why would you look outside of America to find out what Soros’ plans for America are? The Soros America plan is functioning at a high level now, Seattle, Portland, LA, NYC, every major American big blue shit hole city. Cuba looks more appealing to me than Seattle or San Francisco. Poverty and homeless ness is just as rampant in LA as Cuba but at least all mode of perversion is not government policy to be crammed down your throat in Cuba.

Sadly, for much of our history (I don't believe all), that "city on a hill" was pretty much an illusion. That illusion has been heaped on us by a well-produced, orchestrated media and government false (made-up) narrative that has been spoon-fed to us over many decades.

Ever wonder why one of Hitler's closest confidants was Joseph Goebbels? I think I know -- 'cause propaganda (lies) works!

There is "nothing new under the sun," and that phenomenon is with us and on steroids today!

I disagree. Nothing was perfect but to drive Western Civilization for 200 years, I think, was quite an accomplishment. Granted, representative democracy began to erode quickly in 1960 and has vanished from the US today. That being said, nowhere else on earth could you find freedom and opportunity that rivaled our first two hundred years. That was certainly something for the rest of the world to emulate.

I guess we will just have to disagree.

The fact is that many "former" world powers had an exceptional run for their time.

Look at what Rome accomplished in their first 250 years from almost nothing -- to Pax Romana, in which they grew to dominate significant parts of what we now call Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.

And then there is the Spanish which controlled a vast amount of world geography in their time and where even to this day that language is the second most spoken language on the planet, behind Mandarin Chinese.

Then, of course, the mighty British Empire that once had the slogan "the sun never sets on the British Empire." except it did set!

There are many, many others who had a good run, and that leaves out any discussion of East Asians who accomplished many great things in their time, and even to this day, they are doing the same. The power resided for some period of time in these societies -- usually, several hundred years until it didn't any longer.

We've certainly had a good run. As you know, our country had its roots in the British Empire. That is, we were populated by migration, first from England and then from other Western European countries. Like most migrants who get on a boat and take great risks to get here, they were the most aggressive and capable humans at the time. I suspect that is the same today -- at least with legal immigration. We tend to get the best and the brightest -- or have in the not-too-distant past.

Anyway, my comment was, "for much of our history (but not all)."

It should be obvious to anyone who has more than a couple of brain cells that we are rotting from the inside and being challenged from the outside by very capable opponents. We are not dealing with little-bitty countries that we can invade and then walk away anymore. It's a new world, and we should accept it and learn to live with our neighbors, not go to war with them -- where nobody wins, and everybody loses.

We are headed down a dark and dirty path and have been for a while. This path may take us to a place that does not end well -- at all.

I’m ONLY talking 1776-2000, before America went to hell. During our very short run there was none better.

I'm not sure I would agree 100%..

I agree we made great gains. 1776 was not the beginning for us European native original settlers, though. The country was initially settled/conquered by us (not the first humans here), beginning with the first permanent settlement in Jamestown in about 1607. Over the next 150 or so years, we were settled first by primarily English and then by Western European migrants. They brought with them the customs and folkways of England and, to a lesser extent, other Western nations. In other words, we had a good head start.

One can easily make the argument that most of the Western world advanced exponentially in the period you identify. We did not have a monopoly on that concept, and we were not clearly alone. Our run from 1776 to 2000 was a good run. We were starting from nothing. During much of this same time, from 1776 to about 1900, Britain was the world power and well ahead of North America. Germany and a few other Western European nations were advancing at the same time.

It was probably England in about 1760 that was at the heart of the Industrial Revolution that launched all of us (Western Civilization as we know it today). We certainly did not do this all on our own -- but benefited greatly from the gains of other countries. So to say we led the world in the period from 1776 until the end of the 19th century is just not true.

While we made great strides from 1776, we did so, in part, on the shoulders of others. Our Pax America probably started with the end of WWII. Our real glory days were from 1945 until about some time in the '60s, and then we started the slow rot that has grown into what we see today. And it continues -- on steroids!

To dismiss other histories and older civilizations is like putting blinders on a horse. And certainly, our great founding fathers focused heavily on that history to design a system that would work for us. There is much to learn about humans and how they organize themselves, often failing, that we should learn and apply to where we are today!

In other words, a quote from a great book written over 2,500 years ago reads as follows,

"The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. [10] Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us."

You see. These 2500-year-old words contain much wisdom. While we can be proud of what we have accomplished, we certainly are not unique in this world. The wisdom of those words hasn't changed since they were written -- but we sure have. And we are headed in the same direction as the other great societies.
