The FSU criminology program has a fraught history. The brutal murders in Tallahassee of Robert and Helen Simms and their daughter Joy in October of 1966 are officially unsolved. Some locals though claim that key law enforcement figures were bribed in order to cover up that the murders were committed by the troubled son of a prominent FSU criminology professor who lived next door to the Simms family.
