Contrarian - If a kid goes through the school system K-12 we have invested $120K in him. If we deport him, we get zero return on our investment.

So, if the kid has no gang affiliations and kept out of trouble, it makes sense to keep him here.

The word “invest” implies it was done willingly. That does not attain with these people.
