Actually, you're asking the wrong question. The real question should be...

Name ONE country that Russia invaded that was not done for empire building. Granted that, Russian interests were to build up their Russian empire, but that's not the same kind of 'interest' that the U.S. has before going into a country or conflict.

The question for you then becomes...

Name ONE country that the U.S. INVADED for empire-building which was absorbed into the U.S. Empire? (U.S. empire, ever heard of that?)
