My memories of Russert differ greatly.
He was as partisan as any today. His body language spoke volumes.
Whenever a democrat spoke, Russert would lean into the conversation, smile broadly and nod sagely. He would let them go on and on with their talking points with little interruption.
But when a Republican spoke, Russert would lean way back in his chair, scowl, and interrupt constantly, rarely letting a good talking point get out.
