My memories of Russert differ greatly.
He was as partisan as any today. His body language spoke volumes.
Whenever a democrat spoke, Russert would lean into the conversation, smile broadly and nod sagely. He would let them go on and on with their talking points with little interruption.![](https://static01.nyt.com/images/2008/06/13/us/14russert02_650.jpg?quality=75&auto=webp&disable=upscale)
But when a Republican spoke, Russert would lean way back in his chair, scowl, and interrupt constantly, rarely letting a good talking point get out.

As I said, he was a D pol at heart, and only better by comparison with today’s roster of D activist/anchors.

Gavin Newsom says the difference between Biden's accomplishments and public perception is because too many people are focused on Biden's age.

Around Thanksgiving Russert would have Rush on for the whole hour. Required watching, it was so good.

Ah yes the good old day of the Sunday news thread. Russert hid his bias sometimes. But freepers caught it every time
