When inflation exploded, nothing was going to satisfy employees beyond salary adjustments. Even then, inflation prevented workers from feeling like they were getting ahead. More like treading water. Not much satisfaction there.

Not much satisfaction there.Unfortunately, it's a vicious cycle. Higher wages feed inflation. Inflation demands higher wages to keep up. The new higher wages feed inflation.
The Fed was begging employers to stop raising wages until the economy could get a handle on inflation but low wages means that jobs go unfilled.
