It is sad to watch DeSantis striking out like a cornered animal, weaponizing and distorting the facts. The COVID task force was headed by Pence not Trump. Trump left those decisions to Governors. DeSantis is acting as though Americans are stupid and can not remember the events. He will only injure himself.
Trump mobilized distribution of supplies, obtained supplies by direction production by companies that had the capacity, created mobile hospitals & even staffed some with the military. Trump pushed therapy including hydroxychloroquine, ivermectin, recovery plasma. The FDA and Fauci shut that down, criminalizing doctors for prescribing safe & effective drugs. Instead they left only two avenues open to safeguard Americans, a vaccine (a deadly vaccine they had already developed & knew was deadly) and new ineffective, wildly expensive driugs with deadly side effects.
Trump was lied to and believed the lies. He was a cheerleader for the vaccine based on the lies. He never mandated vaccines but was slow to appreciated the dangers of vaccines and the deception. He has no medical or pharmatologic training. I also believe he was slow to fathom the level of evil in scientific & Government officials because it is so foreign to his own ethics.
It was a chaotic time and I believe that although Trump was neither omniscient nor perfect no one else could have done better.
For DeSantis to try and weaponize this situation for political gain is despicable and patently desperate.
DeSantis just came out today to say he as governor is pushing back masks and vaccines. The governors can make the call, before and now.
