You might be surprised to learn that Mississippi, the poorest state in the US, is now wealthier than Britain.
Mississippi’s GDP per capita last year was $47,190, slightly above the UK’s approximately $45,000, though still well below the overall American average of $70,000. While the UK’s per capita GDP has stagnated for the past 15 years, Mississippi’s has been rising rapidly to the point that it has just overtaken us.

There’s a lesson here: Socialism, in any of its mutated forms, does not work. Like Churchill said: “Socialism is like standing in a bucket and trying to lift yourself up by the handle”, but in this case, you’re trying to lift yourself out of poverty, but to the same effect.
I like Mississippi, but Bama is probably the only state I would ever relocate to if I had to. I’m a Texas boy.
Dont knock it!!! We have a MUCH lower cost of living than most places (I bought a 1600sq/ft house for 114000.00 last year during the boom) and, plus, we are pretty free down here.
