Non profit but someone is making bank on this. Reports are that there were still 60,000 last night so they could watch the man burn at 2100 hrs and the temple of babel burn at midnight. Gonna be a little hard to "leave no trace" with all the ruts that will remain once they manage to get all the stuck vehicles out. So, 70-80,000 at minimum $500/tkt.............. IIRC the Paiute tribe gets about $7 million from them. Anyone? Bueller? Now the burers will be in town returning the hundreds of campers rented and a lot of them looking for ways to return to wherever they came from. I can hardly wait for more MJ odors mixed with gallon of patchouli oil stink for a few days. 😉👍

The “organizers” understand that there are a lot of people who love to wallow in the mud. The muddier, the better.

Looked it up on Wiki and some say it’s a celebration of “counter culture” others call it an excuse to party.
I’d say the best and brightest of the Democrat party youth in that area attends that.

I never knew much about Burning Man. While some say it is a festival of liberal counter culture druggie types, a few people here on Free Republic said it’s actually a peaceful family friendly event.

Only way I'd attend something like this anymore is via helicopter with a pilot and fueled up craft at my beck and call to get me out of there the instant I get bored or feel inconvenienced. I'd also require an A/C equipped trailer. Since I don't have any of those things, I doubt I'll ever try to go to Burning Man. Used to be a big deal in Silicon Valley back in the late '90s and early '00s.
Seems very commercialized and overdone the last decade or so, much like Coachella.

This reminds me of the last Phish concert in the Northeast Kingdom of VT.
My parents lived down the street and the masses of mud soaked knuckleheads wandered by their house on the way in and out.

The good part about camping on a lakebed is that it’s flat. The bad part is why it’s flat.

someone needs to find some endangered desert worm or something and force them to end this!

MANY are walking out to the road & seeking rides from others——LEAVING VEHICLES IN THE PLAYA
I wonder WHAT FEES will be charged on THOSE rental cars????
I HOPE it is THOUSANDS.
IF I ran a towing service-—I would NOT accept attempting to tow them out-—wouldn’t RISK my equipment

I betcha those “Counter-Culturists” will be glad to get back to civilization where they can get dry, warm and clean again! Modern civilization is suddenly not so bad after spending a week cut off from civilization.

I do Lyft in Reno and have had my share of those dirty, stinky, freak burners the last two days. I’m going to be spending quite a while at the car wash tomorrow - the dust gets everywhere and is so hard to clean.
