Yeah we will be playing his music non stop for several weeks no doubt. Years ago we knew who he was playing the songs about but over time a lot of it gets forgotten.
He had one song about stealing from the local mini mart gas station gas station and how when they made some money they would pay them back, just priceless stuff.

Ukraine can't afford to lose a generation of young men no matter what weapons we send to them.

The difference you are forgetting is the Ukrainians are fighting for their national sovereignty.

How much is losing to them? Seriously, you mistake America's recent wars for a war of existentialism, which is what the Ukrainians are facing.

Sure, their country is wickedly corrupt, and the democrat party is very much the corruptors, but the only question I have for you is if you believe the Ukrainians have a right to self determination?

All the geopolitics you know so well, I'm NOT disputing that intelligence you have, but still...

You say Ukraine can't afford to lose a generation of young men... What about their entire country?

Let's not forget what the stakes are for THEM.

Zelensky is coming to the US this month to address the UN. There will also be a vote in Congress this month to send billions more to Ukraine. September will a crucial month for Ukraine and the Biden Administration. Opposition to the war is growing in Congress from the right and the left.

And he will be celebrated for his heroism.... Meanwhile its anoher ATM visit

It has been decades since we have heard from you. Yes we were aware that you were stealing Peanut Butter and Sardines from our store for years. However, you have not paid us back as of yet. It is clearly a verbal contract when you state “we all swore if we ever got rich, we would pay the mini maart back”. It is clear to us that you are now rich. Please send a check in the amount of $6,543.00. That is for 1,500 jars of peanut butter, 1000 cans of sardines....and various other items. Please send a check as soon as possible.

Thank you,

the management of the mini mart

So what do you think? Did he ever pay the mini mart back

Does this include interest & penalties?
it must! thats a lot of peanut butter and smelly fish!

McCarthy wants a floor vote on the impeachment inquiry, something Pelosi didn’t do. Does McCarthy have the Rep votes for even an impeachment inquiry?

Enough with the nice guy. Time for bare knuckles on the Dems

What you say is equally true about dozens of modern day countries.

Germany, a proud and strong people, didn’t become a country until 1870.

The Poles were completely overrun and lost their entire country from 1783 until 1920. Same for the Finns (taken by Imperial Russia from the Swedes). Italy was a bunch of separate countries since the Romans were defeated by the barbarian Odovacar, in 476 AD, not gaining sovereignty until Garabaldi AFTER the Napoleonic wars.

Greece was under Turkish rule since the Byzantines were defeated in 1453, only gaining independence and the ability to openly practice Christianity in 1833. Same for Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and Albania. Saudi Arabia was never a country until after Lawrence of Arabia in WWI.

And let’s not forget all those countries, the majority of the WORLD, who were colonies of European powers and did not gain independence until the 1950 and 60s.

Sorting it out without war is the ONLY way.

Allowing Russia to crush them is not.

If that's the case will the countries in the region who could be drawn in to such a war all support Ukraine? Or will it be up to the US to finance and ultimately send soldiers to Ukraine ?How does it all work?

Ukraine today is really an artificial construct of various wars and territorial concessions.

Oh brother! Who gets to decide their fate? You?

Keivan Rus was the cultural capital of the Eastern Slavs while Russians were still primitive pagan villagers. Kiev accepted Eastern Christianity and brought it to the people of that area. Crimea belonged to the Greeks for Byzantium. Kiev came crashing down under the Mongol hordes in the 1230s. The entire country was under the Golden Horde Mongol power for several hundred years. North Russia was at the end of the line, and slowly rose to power over the centuries.

Russia, by the 1500s, had become powerful and conquered many people to the West, East and South. That didn't make all those people Russians. Crimea came under the Byzantians and then the Venetians. The Ottomans took it in and held it until 1783... The Russians took Finland and the Baltic's from Sweden, and Southern Ukraine, including Crimea, from the Turks. In fact, the Crimean war of 1856 was Russia versus France, the Ottomans and the British. A historian would see that much of this was never really settled until recent times.

Also, the Crimea's major population were Crimean Tartars, and Muslims, until WWII--only 80 years ago! Stalin had them expelled to Siberia (those that weren't killed outright) and Russians moved in to replace them.

Do any of the Eastern European countries have a right to sovereignty? All of them are to some sort "artificial construct of various wars and territorial concessions." Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Moldova, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria? The idea of buffer states goes back to the rise of the Germans in the 1870s.

After WWI, it was thought that those nations of Eastern Europe deserve to be free if that's what there people want.

Fundematenly, the Ukrainians have a right to a nation. How big it is and what people there want to belong to--and remember, Russian was taught and spoken throughout the USSR period--should be up to them.

Just like everywhere else.

Spin a globe and stop it with a finger.

Under your finger is a piece of the planet that has been contested, bled over and claimed and reclaimed.

Who has the authority to decide/grant ownership, while still on this mortal coil?

I’m not one of those people who think we should be the free arsenal, in both weapons and $$$, to Ukraine.

The Europeans were drawn to support Ukraine due to Russians invasion. Let them fund them.

I do believe, however, that Russia was wrong and outside of the UN Charter to invade Ukraine. They need to stop and go home. I would like to see referendums, FREELY run, on the local populations as to which country, if any (maybe they want independence?) they will belong to...

Right now neither side wants that. The biggest difference is Ukrainians are fighting for their country. American Conservatives may dislike them due to Biden/democrat corruption, but they just won’t surrender because of that.

I’d like to ask Tucker what he thinks of that.

What is so Biden supporting by that? Nothing. It isn’t a binary war, for Biden or for Putin.

Let there be peace. THAT choice is Russia’s.

What you are implying is “too bad, so sad.” But you wouldn’t think that way if it was your land with a foreign army invading and killing. Am I wrong? Is that not what is happening? The Russian Army is in Ukraine—there’s no dispute.

So far, all I ever heard was excuses as to why they invaded directly, and for all the talk of promises and agreements, there was never a conference or treaty hosted by the UN (and yes, they suck, but who else could do it) on the status of the various Soviet Republics.

Do you remember Colin Powel going before the UN about WMD? We spent more than a year on this. We did that silly dance—I suppose Putin thought to hell with that... But there are serious repercussions in going without world opinion, for all the good that did us. BTW, I now know that Saddam was the lid on the fanatic pot that was ready to blow-and we unleashed it.

The reason there never was a discussion on the fate and borders of the new separate soviet Republics was that was Yeltsin, as the inheritor of the Soviet Union, let them go. The Russia of 1992 was fine with them having sovereignty. What changed was Russia—a fledgling democracy with a horrible economy in the 1990s, become a strong man country, with economic muscle, in the 2000s. He wants to put the band back together, even if the band members want to go their own way.

There is only one way—self determination.

Hell, we tried that in the South, but you Yankees took it from us. :-)

Seriously, though, it wasn’t Southerners but rather democrats that seceded.

But I think continuing this war is bad for both Russians, Ukrainians and the world. Everyone must come to grips with it.

Now, how do they end it?

Sure, their country is wickedly corrupt, and the democrat party is very much the corruptors, but the only question I have for you is if you believe the Ukrainians have a right to self determination?

I believe evey nation should have a right of self-determination free of outside influence. The 2014 coup was engineered by the US and the EU. We undermined the duly elected President of Ukraine. We are living with the consequences of that coup. The shooting war started then and has continued ever since. NATO expansion has been an egregious mistake.

You say Ukraine can't afford to lose a generation of young men... What about their entire country? Let's not forget what the stakes are for THEM.

I agree that fighting for your national survival is far different than fighting for conquest. IMO the Russians never wanted to takeover all of Ukraine. They signed the Minsk Accord in 2015 that kept the Donbas region as part of Ukraine. Putin has said even after the second invasion that the Minsk Accord was still the best solution. The Russian red line has been no NATO membership for Ukraine.

At some point there will be a negotiated settlement. One side will not defeat the other. Right now the Ukrainians are fighting for a better negotiating position. They have lost more territory to Russia after the second invasion. They are being unrealistic if they believe that Russia must return to the 1991 borders. Crimea should be off the table. It will never be ceded back to Ukraine. So should NATO membership. Some form of security guarantees could be negotiated instead.

In the meantime, senseless death and destruction are being visited upon Ukraine. We should stop it. Like a trainer who sees his fighter being battered all over the ring with too much courage for his own good, we should throw in the towel to prevent more permanent damage. It is the humane, moral thing to do.

We need to find a third way.

That’s exactly what Donald Trump tried to do.

Remember when the majority here were neocons supporting Bush’s war on terrorism, the Patriot Act, Afgahnistan and Iraq? I do. I was one of them.

It took Donald Trump to teach me a third way.

Want to neutralize Kim Jong Un in North Korea? The Bush way was to vigorously oppose him with arms and might. The Clinton/Obama way was appeasement and tribute. Neither worked.

Trumps way? Talk, but carry a big stick. Meet with Kim, let the world see you treat him as an equal of the world, but you won’t appease him or threaten him, except to tell him what you could do if you were forced to.

THAT worked.

Look what Trump did with a particular bad guy in Qassem Soleimani in Iraq. Tell him, and if he keeps up, kill him, but not go to war over it. Neither was Trump a whimp or an appeaser.

Trump brought Arabs and Israelis together in peace with the Abraham Accords—probably the most significant peace effort in the Middle East since the Sadat and Begin meetings...

He also pressed China with economic—not military—war and was winning. He knew they HAVE to sell to us to be a great power.

He pushed Europe to pay their share and not rely on us for their defense.

And he recognized the corruption of Joe Biden and Obama in Ukraine.

If anyone is acting like a Bush neocon it is actually Biden AND Putin.

I think Trump can reform him to a peace deal if elected.

It really is our only choice. Not siding with Putin or Russia because you hate Biden or allowing Ukraine, corrupt as they are, to become an enemy of the Right. How has that even happened?

Think outside the box like Trump!
