The Burning Man Festival is held in the desert of Black Rock City, Nevada. This year's festival opened with a viral video of climate change activists blocking traffic with law enforcement responding.
Now, the controversy has spun into a chaotic scene the festival organizers are declaring a National Emergency. Can a festival declare a National Emergency? That's beside the point right now.
Heavy rains overnight on Friday have transformed the infamously dusty desert site into a muddy mess, trapping over 70,000 attendees. The festival-goers are being instructed to shelter in place and to conserve food and water resources since getting supplies in is not possible as no entry nor exit has been permitted since Friday night. No travelers will be permitted to enter for the remainder of the event, per organizers on Saturday. The pop-up airport known as Black Rock City Municipal Airport has been closed, and only emergency vehicles are allowed to drive.
Indeed!

“ Ebola rumours are popping up.”
This is how the zombie apocalypse starts, isn’t it…….
More like Mudstock.

My son is there. There is not a thing I can do. He has his own $. and lives the way he wants.
Well...I have a friend there, as well as my son, and the friend said she never saw any of what you describe last times went.
This year needs to be named Raining Man Festival..???...!!!
That was the idea years ago. Attendees who simply pay to be delivered by private airplane to an RV pre-stocked with food and beverages, including a chef and somebody to do the clean up work aren't really learning anything except what the landscape looks like.
Or how much work their stylist has to do to get good pictures with all the dust or this year's mud.
Burning Man is a Satanic celebration.
Umm. I wonder if anyone bothered to look at the NWS 7 day weather forecast. I suspect it had some mention of rain in there. Maybe even torrential downpours. It’s called situational awareness. Comes in handy now and again.
I can’t think of a worse environment to be in.
Trapped with 70,000 weirdos in a desert.
“God has a great sense of humor.
Don’t start any blasphemous rumors.”
If He doesn’t have a sense of humor, how do you explain nipples on men?
I guess no one ever wondered, if you are camping on a dry lake bed, how it got there in the first place.
Santa Fe, NM has a similar
festival. Zozobra.
Was at the second Burning Man and agree totally
“conservative hippie” huh, yeah a bunch of freaks doing drugs in the desert; NIRVANA!
You willing to pay for the fuel, maintenance, pilots wages for that strange hovering flying machine, and the supplies that you want dropped in?
Thought not.
They are there by CHOICE, those ancient lake beds have a tendency to get a little bit sticky and oozy when they get some rain on them.
Did none of these “BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE”, so intelligent and smart not pay attention to the weather forecasts!
Burning Man descends into chaos

There’s a whole lot of people there, are you willing to write a check (that won’t bounce) for the fuel, maintenance of the aircraft, pilots time, supplies and required insurance for your little gift to these idiots?
I’m not willing, and I doubt that you are!
Our government does nothing but waste money so should they spend a few million to save a bunch of hedonistic dirty hippies? Because there are a few good innocent curious people at this event I would say yes, go help them so nobody is hurt, it is nothing compared to the waste and abuse of our tax dollars already and a few good people will be helped in the end. Why should we bail out the San Frasisco execs that run this thing and make millions from it? Americans don't let people die in the mud even if they do stupid things.
There are millions who practice self-reliance without the need to attend a freak show.
