Motion to Vacate: Gaetz Signals Support for Deposing Kevin McCarthy
National File ^ | Sept 1 | by FRANKIE STOCKES

America First Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz blasted GOP Rep. Kevin McCarthy for his failures to deliver real results as the Speaker of the House and signaled his support for deposing the Speaker, writing in a tweet that “We are going to have to seize the initiative and make some changes.”

In reposting a news interview in which McCarthy attempted to tout his record as speaker by claiming that he’s made the House “more productive, more open, and more transparent than at any time in recent history,” Gaetz blasted McCarthy’s speakership and signaled his support for filing a Motion to Vacate against the California Congressman, which could lead to the unpopular speaker being replaced.

...

“No vote on Term Limits, no vote on a balanced budget, no plan to have individual appropriations bills considered, no full release of J6 tapes, no spending cut to raise the Debt Limit,” Gaetz wrote in his post to X (Twitter).

“Trump has been charged with 91 counts.”

“We haven’t even subpoenaed Hunter Biden – or any Biden for that matter”, he went on.

“I know it is the tendency of political leaders to self-preen, but the truth is that while some GOP House work has made positive reforms – it isn’t good enough. Not even close, actually.”

“We are going to have to seize the initiative and make some changes,” Gaetz concluded...

YES! Finally! We are heading straight for a Continuing Resolution. McCavey said after pushing for blowing past the debt limit we wouldn’t do it again. He is prepping another few trillion so Dems have all the fund they need for the 2024 election.

Yes or No?

Depends on who would replace McCarthy. Gaetz's motion isn't going to go anywhere, but it's still a good thing - keep real pressure on McCarthy from the right.

It’s time for BOLD action, we have been incrementally losing by being timid.

McCarthy is just lazy , depose him now. So are McConnell and McDaniel, dump them also and maybe the RNC can survive.

Make McCarthy a back bencher with zero committee assignments. Scott Perry for Speaker! He’s the chairman of the Freedom Caucus and has not voted for CRs and omnibus bills in the past. He is tied in the ranking for the most conservative member of Congress. Plus, he’s my Congresscritter. The later is reason enough. 😂

Yes, unequivocally.

And as long as the subject is open, it's time for Mitch to just pull his head and legs back into his shell and close up for the remainder of his term, and quietly resign as Minority Leader. Just hang around long enough for someone in Kentucky to step up.

Don't replace him with Thoon (one like to spell it that way), replace him with either Johnson or Rand. Either one would be fine.

Back to McCarthy, he's had his chance.

Replace him with... actually Matt Gaetz, or frankly Lauren Boebert would be a hoot. NOT MTG. She sold out to Kevin and Zhao on the debt limit deal. All brassiere and no cleavage, one might say.

I think we all have an instinctive understanding of the situation here. McCarthy doesn’t have the courage to block a continuing resolution without demanding that the Democrats accept some cuts, and bring the persecution of Trump and the J6 defendants to a screeching halt. Next, is the end of the fiscal year. McCarthy doesn’t have the courage to split the funding into individual departments and agencies and force the Democrats to accept changes and funding cuts. He will most likely accept another “grand bargain” to let the abuse of the American people continue unhindered. McCarthy needs to go. The Republicans need to go all in. Yes, this is a hill worth dying on. A Capitol Hill.

While I agree it all sounds good, and I’m all for making changes because the ‘good enough’ so far is definitely not good enough, go ahead and color me fully skeptical anything will change, EVEN IF there is a leadership change, which I also doubt

I had thought, based on past statements and actions, that McCarthy was not going to do grand bargains or continuing resolutions anymore.

And wasn’t part of the deal to make him speaker, that they changed the rules, to make it easier to “vacate the chair”, meaning vacate the speaker’s job, and call for a new vote on a new speaker?

The fact that no impeachment inquiry has been started means Yes.

Hey Kevin, whatever happened to all that J6 video you were going to share with the public?

He shouldn't just be removed from the Speakership (which isn't going to happen, btw), he should be voted out of office a.s.a.p.

my take on the continuing resolution is to escape blame for the economic crash that’s coming. I’ve wondered if the communist democrats have used this fear to expand spending.

If the spineless pubs were to force concessions through a shutdown, then the collapse that’s coming would then be blamed on the pubs.

So instead of taking a stand, the spineless pubs keep an arms length from living up to the platform they claim to defend.

But the partial truth is, the quantitative easing and runaway debt has contributed strongly to the impending crash that’s about to rock the global economies. And surrender will facilitate that demise.
