YouTube star Ruby Franke of the “8 Passengers” channel was arrested Wednesday after an “emaciated” child with duct tape around their extremities escaped and ran to a neighbor’s house for help.
The arrest record, obtained by Page Six Thursday, states that the child fled through a window of Franke’s business partner Jodi Hildebrandt’s house in Ivins, Utah, and asked the neighbor for food and water — but when the Good Samaritan noticed duct tape on the child’s ankles and wrists, they called police.
“The calling party stated the juvenile appeared to be emaciated and malnourished, with open wounds and duct tape around the extremities,” a statement from local authorities reads.
Police on the scene described the unidentified child’s wounds, neglect and malnourishment to be so “severe” that they transported the victim to the nearby Saint George Regional Hospital.
The child was placed on a medical hold “due to deep lacerations from being tied up with rope,” per the cops.

There is a good chance the child is a step-child in this family. There seems to be a tendency to abuse step children in these situations.
One estranged daughter says they’ve been reporting the abuse for years to the police and cps.

Franke rose to prominence in 2015 through the 8 Passengers YouTube channel, which featured her husband Kevin and six children. The channel had a following of nearly 2.3 million subscribers before it was taken down earlier this year. It’s unclear why the channel was removed from YouTube.
Smith also had the church buy some ancient Egyptian drawings that he “translated” to make the Book of Abraham. The original drawings were lost, presumed burned in a fire iirc.
Well, years later (1960’s?) the original drawings were found in the Smithsonian (iirc). That was after experts had figured out how to read the old drawings. Turns out the drawings were burial rituals, and were NOT written by Abraham about his life.
I believe the Mormons now say that they weren’t translated (Smith said that is what he did), but that Smith was inspired by God based on the old scripts.
Glad this child escaped, and hopefully can get help and a new family that loves them.

I know this child abuse is uncommon, but it isn’t rare. Some people cannot handle the idea of raising children that aren’t blood related to them and they will seek to eliminate that child. Usually it’s the father that wants the child gone, but the mother doesn’t resist it.
Otherwise, nothing is impossible.
