The number of NHS patients dying while waiting for treatment has doubled in five years, new figures suggest.

More than 120,000 people died while on waiting lists last year, according to an analysis of health service data. The total is even higher than it was in lockdown, with health leaders saying the pandemic and NHS strikes have made clearing backlogs more difficult.

Waiting lists are at an all-time high despite Rishi Sunak’s pledge to cut them as one of his five priorities ahead of a general election. Matthew Taylor, the chief executive of the NHS Confederation, said: “These figures are a stark reminder about the potential repercussions of long waits for care. They are heartbreaking for the families who will have lost loved ones and deeply dismaying for NHS leaders, who continue to do all they can in extremely difficult circumstances.

I wonder if England’s hospitals are as busy with illegals as ours are. All the more a problem with them being even more socialist than ours are.

I’m sure the NHS has a full complement of administrators, though. How else could they compile this data?

Marxists, socialists, and Dems know of two ways to cut hospital costs. 1. Price controls (which hurts quality and limits availability), and 2. Limiting services.

I only scanned the article, but I didn't see mention of older patients. One suspects that elderly Brits are the most severely affected by the waits.

The NHS is the largest employer, public or private, in the UK.

Over a million employees.

Good luck trying to find out what percentage actually see patients.

No, you are not. The NHS is the National Health Service in the UK. They were celebrated at either the opening or closing of the 2012 Olympic Games as the UK’s greatest achievement in its history. I’m sure YouTube has a clip showing doctors, nurses and patients dancing with beds—the NHS is just that wonderful. /s

Agree here in Los Angeles so many illegals swamped the hospitals in the last few years (6) trauma centers had to shut down due to lack of funding.

Bet the NY and Chicago stats are staggering too.

Well, the waiting list deaths may have doubled but look on the bright side - at least they're free!
