A California school district has agreed to pay $100,000 to a mother who accused educators of encouraging her daughter to switch genders behind her back, a deal hailed by her attorneys as a “resounding victory for parental rights.”
“Today’s settlement is a clear message to schools: parents will not stand idly by as schools trample on their right to raise their children,” said the Center for American Liberty, which represents Jessica Konen and her daughter Alicia.
The center announced Tuesday a settlement between the Spreckels Union School District and Ms. Konen, who claimed in a lawsuit filed last year that the school hid her daughter’s new name and pronouns from her after teachers convinced the seventh-grader that she was transgender.

Great point. Great post.
Ca just passed law that is illegal to notify parents. As weak as this settlement is they were lucky to get dime.
this is just the beginning... the child will soon sue for millions. the school has already admitted to working without the parents consent.
Key word about public schools union they are in the money loop for votes big time.
Mafias once owned them now more of a communist operation.
Yup....$100K is chump change for the level of misconduct and personal damage here.
Not enough money.
Not near enough money, WHY would her parents settle for such a small amount of money, their daughter is going to have a lifetime of problems!!
More of this.
You can’t compare the two: in the McDonald’s case I think there was a run away jury. It happens. This was a settlement, not a verdict. Damages have to be proven. When you hear so and so is suing for $10M, that’s just lawyers pulling numbers out of the air and may or may not have relationship to prove able damages. Here the harm was done, but was reversed. Settling for $100k, rather than taking it to a jury in a liberal county, is a smart
Move and a good settlement in light of the lack of, best we can tell from the article, long term damage
Pedophile teachers pick the children they like and then you know
I can compare the two. A burn heals. Psychological damage from child abuse is long lasting. Should I go further? We need to stop being pussies and put a real hurt on these freaks. The settlement was with the school district. There is no punishment and pain for the teachers and administrators that encouraged and hid this child’s forced transition. The school district didn’t even admit to any wrong doing. At a minimum all the people involved in the abuse should be sued to their last penny, lost their jobs and be forever be forbidden to be near children again. Long term prison sentences are the best way to accomplish the latter. Their lives need to be destroyed so they can never abuse children again.
This should be Illegal not Government Approved
Who’s going to have the hurt put to them and have their lives ruined? The taxpayers of Monterey County who are going to pay every dime? Them?
For the lifetime of psychological damage done, only $100k.
I have no words to express my anger at this.
It is illegal. It’s called child abuse. Certainly there were sexual discussions by teachers and administrators with the child. That’s sexual abuse. There are laws on the books for inappropriate sexual discussions and/or the corruption of minors.
Is that simple enough for you?
They have sexually explicit books in school libraries, (even at elementary schools). How can they get away with that?
You know you can try not being so condescending then you won’t sound like such a jerk. I’m 33 years since I passed the CA bar. I don’t say it was good, it’s just the way it is. And remember, these blue voters voted for that school board. I assume they like paying for settlements like this
AND, there is NO PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY!
Taxpayers are paying the school’s legal expenses AND the $100k!
The dingbats involved should have to pay and also lose their jobs!
