Correct, two lines of thought on that and the US Supreme Court is unlikely to get themselves involved so it is up to us to address at the ballot box. I will not vote for a ticket that includes as president or VP a candidate who was not born in the US of two citizen parents. So No to Ramaswamy, Haley, Cruz, Rubio, Obama, etc. Nor to anyone with dual citizenship and allegiances. Plenty of good candidates to choose from.
There’s an argument to be made, but its just not correct to say that there’s no consensus. The consensus among those (lower) courts who have looked at it, and existing election law is that an NBC is a person who is a citizen at birth.
That includes children of US citizens born overseas, anchor babies, and children recognized as citizens of other countries.
SCOTUS isn’t going to touch this even with your hands. We an try legislation, but that probably won’t be enough: it would take a constitutional amendment to change, and there’s no support for that either. At this point, it’s just dorm room philosophy to pass the time, not serious political discourse.
