That is all that matters. If he wants to withdraw from far off places, that is anti Swamp and probably good.
The pro Taiwan crowd would be well advised to read about Taiwan from 1949 to the late 1990s. They are Chiang Kai Shek’s staff heirs, who seized all the land and butchered the locals. Then declared themselves friends of the US and were lucky enough to be able to contribute logistically (via their airfields) to the Korean War.
Read this history. Taiwan was Japanese. Chiang Kai Shek grabbed after the war and there was no treaty or document by anyone, even the US, authorizing that. He did it because he was losing a civil war in his own country just 4 years after total triumph. The people rejected him, so he went to Taiwan and where we are right now evolved from all that.
What actually is going to be horrible if we did nothing. China has no reason to invade. The territory already belongs to them.
