Americans have long since had a desire to stay out of other countries affairs since the founding.
In my opinion, we had no business getting involved in WWI. So what if King George or Kaiser Wilhelm won? They were cousins for goodness sakes! And the French were always sticking their noses where they don’t belong.
Barbara Tuchman wrote in the seminal book the Guns of August just how stupid and petty the entire Serbia thing was and how easily it could have stopped with Serbia turning over the killer. Like when we asked the Taliban to give us Bin Laden. They didn’t, and then we had a global war on terrorism, but Islam was peace? WTF?
Anyway, the Europeans rushed to war, and had a mess of it. Why did the USA stick their nose in it three years later? We didn’t want to get involved (Wilson ran on this the year before for goodness sakes!), but the East Coast elites jumped at the chance to get some action, in my opinion.
Anyway, WWII was different. We were attacked. Japan bombed us and Hitler declared war on us four days later. I think that fight was righteous. After that war, we tried to set something up so we wouldn’t have to go back. But we did, all around the edges.
I think Trump is right. The time of incessant war is over!
Still, we did see what appeasement in the 1930s did—nothing. How do we avoid war but not appease anyone hellbent on killing/conquering?
and it is not JUST the border. 65% of illegal immigrants come in legally, but just never go home. They take a cheap plane ride in and disappear in the tall grass.
A manned border Wall is necessary to keep drug and human traffickers out.

My best friend from my childhood lost his home in the Camp Fire. He and his wife moved to Oregon afterwards. He has started drinking heavily up there. He’s 64 years old and not handling the adjustment well.
For months after the fire, Highway 70 coming through Marysville was bumper to bumper dump trucks moving ashes to landfills. I think they were paying $500 a load. It was very sad seeing Paradise carted off that way.
