The first GOP presidential primary debate underscored the split in the Republican Party — and among its candidates for president — when it comes to U.S. support for the war in Ukraine against Russia.
Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy’s hand shot up immediately Wednesday night when moderator Bret Baier asked which of the candidates would oppose providing Ukraine with more financial help.
“I think this is disastrous that we are protecting against an invasion across somebody else’s border when we should use those same military resources to prevent across the invasion of our own southern border here in the United States of America,” said Ramaswamy, who is rising in polls and has modeled his insurgent campaign on many of former President Trump’s policies.
At the other end of the spectrum on the political stage was former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, whose stark differences with Ramaswamy on Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine led to one of the most memorable moments of the night in Milwaukee.
“Ukraine is the first line of defense for us, and the problem that Vivek doesn’t understand is he wants [to] hand Ukraine to Russia, he wants to let China eat Taiwan, he wants to go and stop funding Israel. You don’t do that to friends,” Haley said.

Plus they have the polls showing Americans are tired of aiding Ukraine.
“Vivek Ramaswamy DESTROYS neocons Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, Chris Christie on UKRAINE War”
They might as well also call for ending Medicare and Social Security - hell, why not - after all, why should they listen to the voters who they need to elect them?
Haley’s arguments lead to unending military interventionism adventures, be they against the Serbs, in Ukraine, against Libya, etc and one can be neither isolationist nor interventionist.
And providing aid to Taiwan hardly hands them over to China.

“What do you mean he hasn’t bombed any brown folks?” asked former Vice President Dick Cheney, incredulously. “That Nikki Haley broad hasn’t bombed any brown people either, but even she’s dying to start a war. This Vivek character obviously doesn’t know how foreign policy works on even the most basic, fundamental level. Every American president is honor-bound to rain hellfire upon brown people.”
If you haven’t bombed, or plan to bomb, someone…NO VOTE!
It would be nice if both the candidates and more importantly the voters understood the way the world works. Putin invaded Ukraine under Obama and Biden, but not Trump.
Why?
Trump had cheap energy. For all you concerned about globalism, energy is globalism. Trump’s cheap energy meant global cheap energy.
Putin can only finance his war with high energy prices so he can profit of selling his oil. War mostly exists when sane economics fails. The economics of Obama and Biden is insane.
Cheap energy, no inflation is not only sane... it is the way to avoid things like the invasion of Ukraine.
