From what I’ve read, we’re talking a few minutes of really terrible pain, a few days of pretty bad pain, a week or two to finally get over it, a lifetime memory and a big incentive not to repeat the stupidity.

Maybe better and more humane than being locked up for months with a bunch of criminals.

I remember the video of the guy caned for graffiti in Singapore. They had some martial arts dude who KNEW how to swing a stick. ‘Really terrible pain’ looked like an understatement!
