The heat dome is worst over Springfield, and it’s Homer’s fault.
As Weather Bell’s Joe Bastardi has pointed out for the umpteenth time... the heat pattern in the mid-west (Kansas Nebraska etc.) is exactly the same as in 1935 when few if any had buildings or houses with air conditioning. Inconvenient irrefutable facts, and he shows the weather patterns that governed it then, and now.
Notable no troughs this time to produce the Labor Day hurricane which destroy the FL keys. So far.
My WFH office is in the basement. The hotter it gets outside, the colder it gets downstairs. So today, 90 outside, 73 upstairs, 68 downstairs. I have to go outside to warm up during the day.
Its hotter than a tot in Atlanta because well, its August! 😆

People in charge tell the media what stories to write. They write, people read or listen to news readers, and it becomes fact. HEAT DOME.... ?????? ROFLMAO. . . Humans are like sheep, easily controlled once you get them in a flock.
I’m sorry you people don’t understand weather but the heat dome is a good description of what is happening for a select portion of central us until it moves back west. It prevents any jet stream or even wind much less rain
You need to experience what 105+ degrees with a dew point of mid 70’s + actually feels like. (120 degrees)

In Alaska it’s the summer that never was. 60° will be the high today. This the first year ever that my furnace will have run at some time in every month. Normally it stops in May and starts up again in September.
I saw this on the evening news last night. Guess what — the big numbers they put up on the map for all to see? They were “heat index” numbers, not temperatures. The graphic actually said that, in small print, but the talker only spoke about temperature.
They are sneaky and dishonest and you have to pay attention to the details.
It’s been near or over 100 degrees almost every day since late June here in Texas. I think the highest was 109.
There are SEVERAL THINGS LURKING that are much more pressing than HEAT!
Announcement from super greenies: We need to order the shut down of all air conditioners in all business and homes as they are just making it hotter outside by cooling the inside of the businesses and homes. We MUST do this to stand in solidarity with the homeless who don’t have any air conditioning on the sidewalks where they sit and/or lay. (please note this is sarcasm)

I have pictures of my mom and her sisters laying out in the yard under a tree because the summer that year was abnormally hot and the houses had no AC back then.
It isn’t any hotter now than it was back then.
It never got this hot in Brooklyn, it’s like africa hot, Tarzan couldn’t take this kind of hot.

The National Weather Service waited until the middle of August to announce that it’ll be hot? Should’ve been all cemented in by, oh, May. Kinda sounds like dereliction of global warming duties.
