Ironically, Yevgeny Prigozhin dismissed this justification for russia's invasion, that Kyiv was planning an attack on Donbas and Crimea. Prigozhin called it a lie.

Perhaps you're confused. Ukraine had no plan or intent to invade Russia, but their war against the Donbass had been ongoing since 2014, since Donetsk and Luhansk declared independence, following the Maidan coup.
