Human bodies don’t just burn into ash like a tree branch. If they died in the fire, there will be discoverable remains How many bodies were identified in the Dresden fire storm in 1944?
Please all you WWII historians on FR, I know my history and it was war, and I disagree vehemently that Churchill was a war criminal.
He did everything to win the war.

Intense, concentrated burns over a long period of time is not the same as a fast-moving brush fire.
Talk to a mortician.

Churchill (whom I greatly admire) was not a war criminal and neither was Roosevelt (whom I didn’t). The Dresden bombing was horrific; and, perhaps, unnecessary: But, as you say, it was war, and not unusual. The same could be said about the fire bombing of Tokyo: Horrific; but not unusual in war.
