Some thoughts on the above:
1. Taiwan, unlike Ukraine/Russia wasn't a part of China, at least for a long time, before it was taken over from the Japanese at the end of WWII. The native Taiwanese really feel like they are caught in the middle between the Nationalists and Red China from what a native Taiwanese told me.
2. I would be very surprised if Taiwan hasn't surreptitiously developed a nuclear defense after all these years that will make being taken over by the mainland a somewhat larger international problem even if we wash our hands from the problem.

No, we the American people have no right to give those nations away but both Trump and Vivek seem to believe they do, since both have stated that’s the biggest part of their plan to end the war.
