“Then-Mayor Lori Lightfoot — an avowed progressive — wanted to open the schools, while the Chicago Teachers Union wanted to stay on permanent vacation, the kids be damned.” Chicago’s public schools are over 90% minority, and there’s very little education taking place. The teachers hate their students and will grasp at any opportunity to get away from them while still getting paid and racking up benefits.
