Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Thursday that he would be open to using drone strikes against Mexican drug cartels if he’s elected president.
“We will absolutely reserve the right if they’re invading our country and killing our people,” DeSantis said when a voter asked whether he would be willing to use drones against the cartels.
Asked later by NBC News to clarify, DeSantis said: “I said I would use whatever force we need to defend the country.
“We’d be willing to lean in against them, and we reserve the right to defend our country,” he added.
DeSantis has been leaning hard into immigration as a theme in his presidential campaign, pushing to the right to distinguish himself from former President Donald Trump.
In June, DeSantis endorsed the use of “deadly force” against migrants suspected of trafficking drugs. He reiterated the policy again Thursday as he spoke to a crowd of more than 150 voters in a packed restaurant here.
“We’re authorizing deadly force. They try to break into our country? They will end up stone-cold dead,” he said to a rousing round of applause.
In a recent interview, DeSantis discussed how he would distinguish between migrants who are smuggling drugs and those who aren’t.

We don’t have the luxury to worry about mexico.
10 years ago, I would have said Islam was the issue.
Now the democrats are setting up a totalitarian state that Stalin would aspire to.
We need to solve that before we worry about Mexico’s problems.
He destroyed himself well before this.
Bombing cartels isn’t conservatism, its warmongering.
> Mexico is a sovereign nation, drone strikes are an act of war. <
Yep. Options:
1. Declare war on Mexico.
2. Get Mexico’s permission to use drones.
3. Forget about drones and seal the border.
But don’t just go around bombing other countries.
The Mexican cartels form a state within another nation in Mexico. The “federales” cannot hope to contain the very well-armed cartels, which are both better equipped and better trained than the Mexican armed forces, and the cartels also control, without challenge, large portions of the US-Mexican border, and effective control extends well within the US territory.
It is astonishing how much the Joe Stolen/”Que mala” Harris regime is dedicated to “protecting” the Ukrainian borders, yet will do NOTHING to extend the same benefit to our own national boundaries.
The George Soros international band of oligarchs and pirates own Joe Stolen, and are perfectly willing to share that ownership with the Chinese Communist Party.
And Donald Trump is the one being indicted on every front?
From what I gather, here on Free Republic, DeSantis is allegedly a RINO, he’s allegedly a liberal Republican, he’s allegedly tied in with Karl Rove and Paul Ryan, and for these reasons, we are supposed to hate him.
Heck I’d be all for cruise missile attacks on them myself.
Cartels wouldn’t strike back with drones. They know better than that. Think of the recent assassination mistake where they tied up and handed over the cartel members that did it. They know if they go act of war on the US we will turn them into a museum exhibit.
Their move wouldn’t be so direct and visible. It would more something like quietly going after politician families. Our congress will immediately fold and the cartels will resume their business.
I hit post too soon.
We are also told that we are not to look at the record of DeSantis in Florida, because he allegedly has such a friendly legislature, that any Republican could achieve what he achieved.
Instead, overriding everything else about DeSantis ,is that we are supposed to hate him because of his ties to Karl Rove and Paul Ryan types.
Sorry. That was supposed to be president.

There is more. 😀
He is not a shy guy.
“Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Thursday that he would be open to using drone strikes against Mexican drug cartels if he’s elected president.”
In other words, DeSantis says he will copy Trump’s stated policies.
Bombing other countries is our specialty.
They don't... Ron's doing a damn good job of that himself.
Especially Brown People.
Yes.
> Bombing other countries is our specialty. <
Yep. And since 1945 we follow these three simple (and very expensive) steps.
Step 1: Bomb a little.
Step 2: Bomb a lot.
Step 3: Give up and call the whole thing off.
He might want to reconsider that. After all, his job as a JAG officer/advisor in Iraq, was to make sure our troops behaved like gentlemen, and didn’t offend our enemies. When they put lawyers on the battlefield, this country’s ability to win a war, went down the tubes.
So what.
He’s irrelevant.
He and Jeb can fly their drones together.
Deadly force is about the only option for someone trying to kill you.
They don’t have to send them across the border at this point in time.
I’m sure there are plenty of targets right here at home.
But not definet...
