I believe that soon events outside the USA will drive us into chaos. Here's one scenario ( far fetched? You decide):
  1. Seeing obvious US weakness, China and the DPRK coordinate an attack on Tawain and South Korea.
  2. We get into a naval war in the Pacific which at first we are winning.
  3. Over time a draft is needed and no one wants to fight Biden's war.
  4. Putin sees an opening and attacks west further stretching our ability to supply allies. It officially becomes WWIII.
  5. We cannot replace/repair our ships as fast as China. Every destoyer we loose we cannot replace in less than 3 years. OTH China replaces their loses at a rate of 5:1 in less than 1 year.
  6. Our industrial base collapses.
  7. We decend into secession and civil war.
  8. No nukes are used because China, Russia and the USA are not threatened with direct invasion.

Nice list.

I still think China’s sabre rattling at Taiwan and the USA is a diversion from their real plan. My money in on Siberia as China’s most likely goal.

They all but worship Sun Tzu and what they’re doing is what Sun Tzu would do if he were to attack Siberia: do everything to announce your intention to attack one adversary in order to put your actual adversary at ease.

Also, attack when your adversary is weak. Do not attack when your adversary is strong.

And right now Russia is weak and Taiwan is strong.

Plus, aside from some silly point of national pride what does China gain from seizing Taiwan? A rock with no natural resources and industry obliterated by war?

Meanwhile Siberia has vast untapped treasures that China can leverage for centuries to come.

China will attack Siberia. Taiwan is a distraction.
