I’m an old fashioned guy that still believes that the federal government actually represents the will of the people.

That’s part or the problem. The will of the people is
ever changing. Just look at the changes to this land
called the USA since Columbus sailed the ocean blue in
1492.
Back in the day:
**Males ruled the roost
**Indians were rounded up and put on Reservations
**Whitey went to Africa and brought their natives
here to do the manual labor such as tend the crops
clean, cook, wash the clothes, tend the children, etc.
The future will be interesting over the next century
or so. Space travel, people living in outer space,
food intake to change to pills, liquid, injections, etc.
Less burials due to cremation/space deposit of the ashes
