Humanly speaking, this system is irredeemably corrupt. The Republican Party is at most only less corrupt then the Democrats. Let's look at an example: Marion County, Kansas. This is a county that voted almost three to one for Trump in 2020. Republicans have carried this County in every presidential election since 1940. Even Barry Goldwater carry the county by 10 points in percentage. No one would mistake the politics of Marion County with those of Seattle or Boston. Yet the sheriff of Marion County staged a raid on a local newspaper on what appears to be hearsay with the use of a warrant obtained from a local judge. If this sort of legal terrorism happens in a place that fits Jason Aldean’s song, “Try That in a Small Town”, you know we are dealing with a system that only fervent prayer can take down.

You're right, and I'm glad that I'm on the tail-end of my life, so I hopefully won't be around when it totally goes down the poop-chute.

I bet these local Republican politicians have been in office forever! Nothing breeds incompetence, corruption and arrogance like multiple terms in office party affiliation is irrelevant. I hate using TV shows as an example but the character in “Boardwalk Empire” is based on Enoch Lewis “Nucky” Johnson. He was a Republican! In those days it was a corrupt Republican machine that ran things in New Jersey, today it’s a corrupt Rat machine. The common thread is multiple terms in office, where the parties settled in like conquering feudal barons.
Term limits at all levels of government!
