Wagner is already in place on several borders of Niger. Wagner has been working in Africa for almost a decade. They are an independent mercenary group and work where they choose, for pay. It is only recently that Americans have heard of them because of the war in Ukraine. Amusing to see the newbies posting about them....suddenly everyone knows all about Russia.

It's both amusing and bemusing to see spreaders of Putin's agitprop here on FR.

Wagner is a mercenary group created by and for Putin to give him plausible denial in his never-ending pursuit of power and wealth.

The Wagners attacked US forces in Iraq and got their asses handed to them.

They've been in Libya for years, despite having been asked to leave by both rival factions there.
