I was thinking of moving to NH.
Maybe I’ll check out Vermont.

If you are considering moving to NH you might want to do a search of towns with the lowest real estate taxes/thousand of valuation.
There are towns in the center of the state in the lakes region(like Tuftonboro) that have much lower real estate taxes IF you are not on the lake shore.

These lower tax rate towns get all their income from the multi million dollar houses along the lake. Many of those are owned by people from out of state. The taxes on houses that are not on the water are roughly half or less of the average property tax in the state.

Keep in mind that NH has no state income tax or sales tax. Except a rooms and meals tax of 8%. We also have a dividend and interest tax. The other main source of income is auto registration. So, the majority tax that you pay in the state of NH is Property taxes.
