For people who have never been there, Oakland is a festering anus of crime, graffiti, homeless encampments, and dilapidated buildings. It is truly post-apocalyptic, and paradoxically it sits on prime real-estate smack-dab in the middle of the north bay which is otherwise fairly affluent.
