EPA is ignoring the glaring problem with dang dirty electric vehicles
The HIll ^ | 08/07/2023 | BENJAMIN ZYCHER

The Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) has launched a new regulatory effort to force a massive transportation shift to electric vehicles (EVs) with its proposed “multi-pollutant emissions standards” for light- and medium-duty vehicles beginning with model year 2027.

The reality, however, is that the proposed rule has little to do with “pollutants.” Instead, it is an attempt by the Biden administration to force an economy-wide transformation away from conventional cars and trucks in favor of EVs. This is a complex policy nostrum, poorly thought through and replete with adverse consequences that proponents are determined to ignore.

The left hates Nixon but loves his EPA.

I still can’t find ANYWHERE to dispose of lithium ion batteries.

Sure you can Google it,, and get all kinds of answers

but when you actually contact them

they will NOT accept these lithium batteries.

Not recyclers
Not municipal dumps
Not battery disposal sites.

No one will take them.

Very much doubt the EPA regulations will take hold. If they really start inconveniencing the motoring public or force people to buy and use unwanted short range, unreliable, rapidly depreciating EVs, expect real violence. It will go beyond a political backlash.

The push for electric vehicles will destroy the economy. If your business is in the mountains or at the beach and relies on tourism you can kiss your livelihood goodbye.

There is no earthly way a family can drive, say, from Iowa to Florida in an electric vehicle, taking 4 hours to charge every 300-400 miles (assuming there is never a wait at the charging station).

We saw a Tesla on the side of the highway the other day driving back from our rural compound. I assume it ran out of juice and good luck finding a charging station in north Hall county.

Not so sure. The pushback needs to happen now and l am not seeing it. Car makers plan 4-5 years out and the Government has the means to bully/bribe them. Waiting until the reality smacks everyone in the face will be too late.

"EPA is ignoring the glaring problem with dang dirty electric vehicles"

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

While the EPA is arguably a good idea, the EPA is not the problem with electric vehicles imo.

More specifically, apathetic voters keep on reelecting their corrupt political party celebrity lawmakers who make voters pay the unconstitutional federal taxes that fund the non-popularly elected bureaucrats who make the edicts of the constitutionally undefined EPA.

In other words, as a consequence of voters who evidently don't study their constitution, the drafters of the Constitution wasted their time with making Congress's constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

It's as if the best satisfaction that citizens have discovered with their 1st Amendment-protected free speech is to complain about their unconstitutionally big federal government.

"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]." —United States v. Butler, 1936.

Hopeful Trump 47 is going to rescue citizens from the deep state.

But who is going to rescue misguided, post-17th Amendment ratification voters from themselves?

Voters must rescue themselves from the big, bad feds by primarying ALL state and federal lawmakers and executives in 2024, replacing them with new lawmakers who respect the federal government's constitutionally limited powers.

Maybe some enterprising individual can invent a SHTF device for starting fires using old lithium batteries. Put a small amount of lithium in a capsule. Break the capsule when needed and just add water.

“I still can’t find ANYWHERE to dispose of lithium ion batteries.”

You are supposed to snail mail them to Elon Musk—he has the super-secret recycling center—somewhere.

Many plans have a down side. Just watch the direction of the wind and only use a tiny piece. Implementation details can be worked out.

I wonder if EV companies have a patent on it. They seem to have several that come in packages shaped like a car. I also see there are smaller versions shaped like E-Bikes. A SHTF version would need to be small, maybe peppercorn size.

Possibly in a pinch although it could be very expensive. A lighter or a ferro rod would be much safer. However, lithium fires can be spectacular.

Ya, I’ll probably stick with my bug out bag ferro rod kit also. No lethal fumes.
